Redemption (3/15/08)

[This was originally meant as a game story line for my brother, Sean. Here is the first part...All Rights Reserved. Solange nicole]

Louis crouches over the city tower. Rain dripping from his face, the wind whipping through his hair. The city lights in a hellish glow before him. His head raises letting his gaze pierce into the dark horizon. In one lithe motion, Louis leaps from the roof top landing onto the next. He makes one final jump.

His thoughts consume him, driven by the one thing he wants most. A soul. The chance to become a living, breathing being. And he couldn't find a way until he could know for sure who and what he is.

The rain pounds down upon his back as he sails down to the concrete. Thunder fills the black sky. He walks toward a building he had called home for many years. He steps in front of the door. The rain pelts his stoic face, it beading in his long hair. A run down laboratory stands before him, encrusted with mud and brick. A sign, scarred and faded read: MANOMETTRE Location 56. Louis runs a cool mulatto hand through his raven black hair. A pair of still green eyes are revealed. The iris a beautiful brilliant shade, the pupils vacant and dark.
With one side glance, he haunts past the threshold. The pale green eyes disappear into the darkness. He walks farther into the lab passing dusted tables. Chemistry paraphernalia is strewn across them. The shards of broken beakers glittering everywhere. Racks of test tubes abandoned from failed experiments. Books lie in the corners of the deserted room and piled high near the tables. These books Louis knew very well. They are what sustained him through out the years. He passes the stacks now picking out a few favorites-- the Bible, twin volume medical books, Da Vinci's Notebook, The Divine Comedy, Faust. Books that taught him about the life he came to know, and hate. He would scower building after building searching for the impossible answers to his questions. "What am I?" "Why doesn't my heart beat?" "What can I do to make it beat again?" The endless searching sustained him as well. It was all he had after the accident. The search would continue until he found a way to get back to his life, or end it.
